Welcome to UDN!
The Unreal Developer Network is a group of sites and services providing support and resources for licensees employing the latest builds of Epic Games' Unreal engine (builds 600+). Developers under non-disclosure agreements can log in to access all resources.
Important information as of October 5, 2002!
Please take note! The Unreal Developer Network is a group of sites providing support for licensees of the latest Unreal engine builds, not for the end-user. For mod developers working with Unreal Tournament 2003, this documentation is meant to be a starting point for your own explorations into UT2003, not a definitive guide. UT2003 uses Unreal engine build 2107; most documentation on the site is for build 927, so there will be differences. You may have to figure out quite a bit for yourself. Check out the Unreal Tournament 2003 page in the Unreal Powered area for links to community sites if you're having problems. UDN cannot provide technical support or game-specific assistance.
New as of September 17, 2002!
To commemorate the release of the Unreal Tournament 2003 demo, and in anticipation of the release of the full (and user-modifiable!) game, we've released a significant amount of documentation to the public. Along with the latest TerrainTutorial, level design documentation covering everything from the new static mesh primitives to modelling using the much-enhanced skeletal system has been made available. Plus, the public technical documentation includes basic skeletal animation documentation, and information on the new UnrealScriptDelegates language feature!
More documentation may be released to the public as it gets produced, and if it is relevant for mod developers. If you're looking for something specific that's not covered here, and isn't a game-specific feature (remember that UDN covers the base Unreal engine, not specific products or licensee modifications), feel free to let us know at udn@epicgames.com.
About the public UDN @ Epic Games site
Looking for editing resources for the older builds of the Unreal engine (200-436, such as used in Unreal and Unreal Tournament)? Try the original Unreal Technology Page. UDN is specifically for builds 600 and onward.
This Unreal Developer Network site is divided into four areas. The Engine area will explain what the Unreal real-time 3D engine is, what it can do, and how it can benefit your next 3D project. Unreal Powered is designed to be a gallery of licensee projects, showing the wide variety of content that can be produced. Content Creation is the artist's area; whether you're a commercial user or just looking to modify an existing game, this should be your first level design, modeling and audio resource. Finally, Technical is the programmer's pavilion, an often very technical area for doing in-depth and complex modifications.
