Sniper's Paradise!
What causes the Push to Talk Feature Failure on Teamspeak?
To get a more broad understanding of the issue and to certainly salvage almost all the possible causes, we went through various user reports and found that the cause of the issue is restricted to the following two reasons:
1. Check your Capture Profile
When the push to talk functionality is not operating as it should be, the first thing you need to do is check your capture profile. As it happens, the issue usually tends to be the wrong profile selection in the capture settings of your Teamspeak installation. If your Teamspeak is using the default device (i.e built-in capture devices) rather than the correct capture device, you will not be able to communicate with other people in the channel.
To fix this issue, you will have to make sure that the correct capture device is selected or the right profile if you have created one for your ease before you connect to the server. To do this, follow the below instructions:
- On your Teamspeak window, click on the Self option on the menu bar.
- From the drop-down list, go to Capture Profile.
- If you are using the default profile, make sure it is there. If it is not, just click on the Tools option in the menu bar and then select Options .
- The options window will pop up. Switch to the Capture tab.
- From there, choose the correct capture device or your capture profile.
2. Check your Hotkey Profile
Another possible cause of the issue can be your hotkey profile. If the wrong hotkey profile is selected in the settings, your microphone will not activate and hence prevent you from communicating with others. Therefore, you will have to make sure that the correct hotkey profile is selected if you have created one. Otherwise, you will have to make sure that the correct hotkey is assigned to the push to talk option. Do the following to check your hotkey profile:
- To check your hotkey profile, click on the Self option in the menu bar of Teamspeak.
- After that, move your cursor to the Hotkey Profile option and make sure that the correct profile is marked.
- Alternatively, you can go to the Tools option and then select Options from the drop-down menu.
- Afterwards, switch to the Hotkeys tab and make sure that the correct profile is selected.
5. Check if the issue is fixed.
3. Uncheck ‘Voice Activation Detection while Push to Talk’ Option
For some users, the issue was caused by the Voice Activation Detection while Push to Talk option. What this option does it enables Voice Activation Detection for Push to Talk. This means that the mic will not activate even when you have pressed the push to talk hotkey unless the voice is of a certain level.
This option is found in the Advanced options under the capture device settings. Disabling this is likely to fix your issue if the above solutions have failed to do so. Here’s how to uncheck the option:
- Click on the Tools option and then select Options from the drop-down menu.
- Now, switch to the Capture tab and check the Advanced options box to show additional settings.
- From the newly listed options, make sure that the ‘ Voice Activation Detection while Push-to-Talk ’ option is unchecked.
- Finally, click Apply and then hit OK .
Can't connect to a server?
There are many reasons why a connection could not be made to desired server.
- Check that you entered the correct address, IP or server nickname
- Make sure, the server is not offline. Ask a buddy to connect to the server or contact the server host.
- Try to connect to our test server first. Please try both links under this text for testing.
Click to connect to the DNS address or Click to connect to the IP address
- Can friends connect to the server? compare what they entered in their bookmark or Quick connect field.
- mare sure the client is not blocked in your firewall?
- Check your firewall settings, maybe you have blocked the client or your disallowed UDP traffic through your router or firewall.
- If you can reach the server, ask the server provider for network problems or if their provider blocked your country.
- Make sure the server host has opened port 9987 for UDP traffic
- Make sure your ISP allows voice programs.
- When connecting to a computer in own network always use the LAN IP of that computer.
- Hint: The client does not need any port forwarding. You only need to be able to connect via UDP to servers.
When trying to connect to a TeamSpeak server, I get a "No reply from server" message. What does this error mean?
The client could not make a connection to the destination server you're trying to connect to. Either something is blocking the connection request or there is no server at the end.
Possible reasons:
- You entered an IP or port which is not correct or where no server is running on.
Check with the serveradmin if you have the correct IP and port and if the server is running. If the server doesn't run on the default port 9987, enter the destination address of the server like the following EXAMPLE: IP:PORT or in numbers 192.168.1.1:8760 - You have a firewall which is preventing a connection to the server.
Check your firewall manual to see how to allow TS a connection to any TS server. The ports required by TS are mentioned in the FAQ. If this doesn't help you, check a firewall forum for specific help for your kind of firewall - You can connect to some servers but not to the one specific.
Test several servers to make sure the problem lies not within your network configuration but on the server side.
The server hoster may miss a port forwarding or has a bad firewall config (this is often the case when new / network unexperienced user setup servers). Advice the hoster to configure the port forwarding. - You get a timeout.
Some firewalls can cause timeout problems as well, so deactivate the firewall for testing. Wireless networks may as well be the cause of timeout problems. Try to connect without the WLAN and use an ethernet cable instead.
I do not hear anything or can't talk. What can i do?
Make sure drivers are updated.
Check your default Capture and Playback devices, especially for Windows 8.1 and newer. Check your default Communication devices.
Try to select your device directly and not default under
TS3 : Tools > Options > Playback or Capture.
TS5: Options > AudioTS3: Is there a capture or playback profile set in your bookmark? Check your settings under Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > Click on “Go Advanced”
Are these the right profiles? Compare them with these from your settings.
After updating to Windows 10 version 1803, it is required that access to your microphone is enabled.
These 2 settings must be enabled: Microphone access for this device and allow app to access your microphoneThe settings can be found under Settings -> Privacy -> Microphone (left side)
You can also press Windows key + R and type in ms-settings:privacy-microphone to reach that setting. On Mac Os you must make sure access to the microphone is granted before you can use it.
Try to sending something with Push-To-Talk/Continuous Transmissions enabled.
Is the slider in your capture profile set to high? Test and move it in the local test mode.
Are you sure, that you channel isn’t moderated and or you have enough talk power to speak in it?
Check that the channel isn’t in silence mode. This happens when a lot users (differs from server server to server via server setting) are in channel.
Is the user you can not hear muted?
Did your turn down the volume? Open Tools -> Options -> Playback and turn the Voice Volume Adjustment slider up.
Is the client muted in the Windows volume mixer? Do a right-click on the speaker icon in your tray and then select Open Mixer to check this
Don’t forget that some devices also have mute function and you may muted your microphone there.

Any mismatch might cause the Overwolf TeamSpeak plugin result in a failure connecting to the TeamSpeak client.
*Important note - when launching a game in administrator mode you may have issues injecting the TS overlay.
Notifications in League of Legends:
Note that in League of Legends the notifications are toggled off by default, if you wish to see them just follow the guide above and uncheck the option "Don't show notifications when playing League of Legends."
TeamSpeak won't inject into the game or won't work with Overwolf
The best way to integrate TS with Overwolf is to activate TS in-game while Overwolf is already injected, try following these steps the next time you use the TS overlay:
