Sniper's Paradise!

The Monsters

Some of the monsters you find, die not once, not twice, but maybe up to three times depending on the monster. They aren't pushovers as they are in Unreal, and they will turn you into a pile of gibs if in groups, where they can win easily. Always be on your toes and moving at all costs when in a battle with them.

Congealed blood

Toughness: 4/10. Pain Resistance: 1/10. Methods of Attack: Biting, lunging.

If you were to compare this monster to any other monster in any game, I would compare this to the Zombies in the Doom game series. Not incredibly power and can be taken out with any weapon from a distance before it manages to attack. In groups these are deadly because all they do is swarm around you and bite relentlessly until they are killed. You can get these into big groups and kill several at one time, using the Shock Combo or a nicely shot Rocket Launcher bundle.

Moth

Toughness: 4/10. Pain Resistance: 1/10. Methods of Attack: Dive Bombing.

Like the Pupae, these little buggers are mean. Mostly found in groups from anywhere to 2-30, DO NOT let these guys get anywhere close to you. If you do, it's better off to just say your prayers, as these things will eat all of your health and armor in a matter of seconds. On the other hand, these are one of the more stupider monsters in the game. You can bundle these guys up into a group since they will fly in as a group (Not a very smart flanking procedure now isn't it?) and attempt to kill you. Since these guys have really low life (Around 30), you take out 15 with one rocket or anything explosive for that matter, save the Ripper. Watch out so that none sneak up on you, because they're fairly quiet.

Tobimasu

Toughness: 10/10. Pain Resistance: 2/10. Methods of Attack: High-speed Dive Bombing.

Tobimasu are a major threat that should be dealt with as fast as possible. The things fly pretty fast that you wonder where in hell these things are coming from. If you get it from these very fast flies, these will take off an extremely large amount of health from the health reading, leaving you dead 98% of the time. If you somehow manage to survive, you will be in a near dead state. If you see one, you better start running. Backpedal and use the Minigun to take these out fast, but your aim needs to be true or else you will suffer.

Devilfish

Toughness: 5/10. Pain Resistance: 1/10. Methods of Attack: Biting.

A step up in power from the previous monsters, these are blue fish that are only found in water. Mostly you will see these guys in packs from anywhere from 2-10, so be on your guard as they somewhat blend into the water from their bluish color. Like the previous two monsters, these are very deadly in groups, so you should never corner yourself in the heat of battle. If there's an open area in which you can get out of the water, you can knock these guys out of the water, and all they will do is flop around, making them easier to kill. Use anything you want to kill these things.

Cave Manta

Toughness: 3/10. Pain Resistance: 1/10 Methods of Attack: Charging.

A royal pain in the ass. Most of the time, Cave Mantas are found in general areas that involve jumping or a dark area. Although not really powerful, beware of one important thing: these WILL knock you off a platform, causing you to suicide, when you're jumping over a pool of lava of toxins. Very easy to outrun as they're not very fast, but if you must kill these guys, do it quickly.

BloodBath

Toughness: 4/10. Pain Resistance: 2/10. Methods of Attack: Charging.

A step up from the Mantas. Greatly more agile, faster and powerful than their brothers. They will most certainly give you trouble and are difficult to avoid and kill.

Tentacle

Toughness: 3/10. Pain Resistance: 1/10. Methods of Attack: Throwing needles/rockets/grenades at you.

Tentacles will always be hanging from something. Be it a ceiling, underside of a bridge, they will always be hanging, ready for someone to walk by to they can ambush you. Unfortunately, hanging from the ceiling is also one of their biggest weaknesses. 99% of the time you can score a headshot off these guys with the Sniper Rifle, since their "head" is always exposed. A few Sniper Rifle shot to the "head" will kill them. Be aware that these have knock back abilities as well, so watch yourself when you're over areas of lava with the potential to fall in.

Squid

Toughness: 2/10. Pain Resistance: 4/10. Methods of Attack: Underwater "drilling" spear, clamping onto you.

Another underwater monster, these aren't very powerful and they're easy to avoid, but they do have a good amount of pain resistance. It takes around 3 Sniper Rifle bullets to put one of these down, which if you think about it, is a decent amount of ammo. Try not to waste ammo on these guys unless it's deemed necessary.

Slith

Toughness: 4/10. Pain Resistance: 3/10. Methods of Attack: Biting, clawing, shooting tarydium sludge.

If you think you can easily outrun these things underwater, think again. Slith can catch up with ease because of their agility. They will claw you to death while in groups if they catch you before you escape, and they aren't exactly easy to defeat either. On land, however, they will attempt to use their sludge attack at you, because Sliths are mainly underwater creatures. This hurts too, but it is rather easy to avoid. Be aware that the tarydium will stick to walls too, much like the GES Bio Rifles, but it will slowly dissolve, not explode.

Krall

Toughness: 4/10. Pain Resistance: 3/10. Methods of Attack: Staff melee, ranged "Dispersion" attack.

One of the more common monsters in the maps. These don't run very fast, or very far, but usually will come in clusters. These guys are hard to bring down espeically in a group attack. Be weary of their ranged attack, it can pack a punch. Use decapitation for a quick and clean kill.

Krall Elite

Toughness: 5/10. Pain Resistance: 4/10. Methods of Attack: Staff melee, ranged "Dispersion" attack.

Heads above shoulders than the Krall, this is the Krall's big brother. More damaging and takes more punishment than his littler brother, the Krall Elite will give you some hard times if you don't come prepared. He still has the same attacks and is still his slow, usual self, but don't leave yourself open to attack. The way to differentiate between the two is that the Krall is a tan color, while the Krall Elite is a while/silverish color. Use decapitation for a quick and clean kill.

Gasbag

Toughness: 4/10. Pain Resistance: 2/10. Methods of Attack: Melee attack, exploding orange ball.

Another common monster that will be found in maps. These are rather slow monsters, but they do have one strong point to point out: They can dodge attacks. I'll give you props if you can hit a Gasbag with a single rocket without locking onto it in an open area, because about 99% of the time they will just dodge them. Because they have such a big head, this is a major weakness of the Gasbag. You can easily take a Gasbag out in one hit with a Sniper Rifle combined with a Damage Amplifier. Always be on the move, these guys love to gangbang you and blow you to pieces with their orange ball of death. Their projectiles are rather slow as well.

Seeker

Toughness: 7/10. Pain Resistance: 3/10. Methods of Attack: Melee attack, exploding orange ball.

The brother of the Gasbag are much faster and smaller and packs a mean punch if given the opportunity. Their projectiles are much faster and are hard to avoid. Take these guys out as fast as you can, because they do take a bit to kill.

Lesser Brute

Toughness: 5/10. Pain Resistance: 2/10. Methods of Attack: Melee attack, ranged missile attack.

They're relatively easy to kill, as a few Sniper Rifle shots will put one down. They will almost never melee you unless you're directly in front of their faces. Do watch out for their missile attack. Not only are the projectiles are fast, but they do take off an amazing 30 damage a direct rocket hit, and with 15 rockets flying towards you, that's not good. To avoid these rockets, dodge them from left to right as much as you can, because they do pump these out like a machine gun. Take advantage of the short pause they have after firing off some rockets to cap them.

Brute

Toughness: 5/10. Pain Resistance: 3/10. Methods of Attack: Melee attack, ranged missile attack.

The semi bigger brother of the Lesser Brute, these are more damaging and bigger than their counterparts. They do take more to kill, I admit, but there's nothing a little dodging and headshots can't do. Use the same strategies as you did when fighting the Lesser Brute, and they will go down without too much of a fight.

Behemoth

Toughness: 5/10. Pain Resistance: 4/10. Methods of Attack: Melee attack, ranged missile attack.

The best of the best of the Brute class, these can give you some serious trouble if found in groups. They do take more damage than the other two Brutes, so put this into consideration when fighting these. A good bundle of rockets from the Eightball or Rocket Launcher will take one down without a problem, unless you magically miss somehow. Some of the more advanced Behemoths in some of the maps will fire lasers. These hurt a lot more than a single rocket, but are slightly slower. Beware of the laser Behemonths.

Mercenary

Toughness: 5/10. Pain Resistance: 7/10. Methods of Attack: Melee attack, ranged missile attack, machine gun attack.

The reason for the high pain resistance is because of the fact that they can put a nearly indestructible shield on when they're in a crisis and somewhat about to die. Due to this, you can't attack, you cant hurt them, because your attacks won't do anything. Your best bet is to wait for their shield to wear down and kill them off as quickly as possible. If you wait to toy around with these guys, they'll just keep re-shielding themselves, which will take a long time before you actually can kill them. There is only one way you can break through this shield. Try to decapitate these guys whenever possible.

Mercenary Elite

Toughness: 5/10. Pain Resistance: 8/10. Methods of Attack: Melee attack, ranged missile attack, machine gun attack.

Worse than the Mercenary because these are the elite form of the two. They take more to kill, and use that annoying shield because they love to see you scream at your computer monitor. Don't toy around with the elites, because you'll just end up dying. Try to decapitate these guys whenever possible.

Time for a Skaarj lesson boys and girls!

Skaarj Lesson 101

Rather than make 11 different sections for the Skaarj (And yes, there are that many), I'll just combine it all into one section for the sake of my sanity. You may find yourself dying to these guys a lot, mainly because the Skaarj are ruthless and will stop at nothing to kill you.

Skaarj have amazing strength and agility. It's almost impossible to dodge the attacks coming from a Skaarj if you are running backwards and shooting them,

Skaarj have very good dodging skills, and will roll with amazing speed out of the way of your attacks from Rocket Launchers, ASMD Shock Rifles, etc. You need to be really adept at aiming to take these on.

The odds of you taking a Skaarj on with a Chainsaw without a Damage Amplifier are pretty low. Odds are you'll end up dying before he does, unless, for example, it's a Skaarj Trooper.

If you are hiding behind a pillar, and a Skaarj knows that you are hiding behind it, they will attempt to sneak up on you and ambush you. Always look everywhere before you come out from hiding.

When under heavy fire, anything lower than the rank of a Skaarj Warrior below on the list will attempt to use a shield to protect themselves. During this, their shield is indestructible and they cannot be damaged, unless you manage to sneak around behind them and cap them from behind. It may look like your damaging them from the front when their shield is out, but in reality, you aren't.

Headshots are crucial in killing Skaarj in most cases. Use the Sniper Rifle and Ripper as much as you can, combined with a Damage Amplifier.

Here are the 11 different types of Skaarj: Skaarj Trooper
Skaarj Gunner
Skaarj Infantry
Skaarj Officer
Skaarj Sniper
Skaarj Warrior
Skaarj Assassin
Skaarj Berserker
Skaarj Lord
Skaarj Scout
Ice Skaarj (The oddball of the group).
Toughness: Anywhere from 5-9. Pain Resistance: Anywhere from 3-8.

Methods of Attacks: Melee attacks, claw attack, charge rolling strike, ranged plasma bolt attack, Eightball fire attack, Minigun fire attack, Flak Cannon fire attack, Rifle fire attack, jump and slash attack, charging berserk plasma bolt attack.

Now a short description on what to look for on each Skaarj.

Skaarj Trooper: One of the weaker Skaarj, these guys will always coming unarmed and prefer hand to hand combat to kill you. Needless to say these guys can be gunned down very quickly before they even touch you.

Skaarj Warrior: Another of the weaker Skaarj, these guys are exactly as what's stated above.

Skaarj Gunner: This is where things get tough. Most of the time these will come equipped with a Minigun, and they know how to use it very well. Take these out as quickly as possible with a headshot from a few Sniper Rifle rounds because you will suffer extreme damage.

Skaarj Infantry: These are when they start getting the Eightball weapons. You need to take these out as fast as you can, and use some pretty stylish dodging. Most of the time you can barely make out where the rocket's trajectory will take it, unless you see the stream of smoke it creates. The one thing Skaarj Infantry cannot do is preload rockets, so be very thankful for that. These can also come equipped with Miniguns instead of Eightballs.

Skaarj Officer: These will attempt to melee you when you're close to them. They come equipped with any gun except the Rifle, and the know how to use their weapons. On very, very rare instances, they will have a Flak Cannon. When they have one, they are very hard to kill, mainly because the Flak Cannon will kill you in one hit, if not, two hits without any shielding of some sort. If you see a Skaarj Officer with a Flak Cannon, RUN. Find some armor if it's all possible and find a good weapon to take them on with.

Skaarj Sniper: Remember back up in the FAQ where I said that I hated Skaarj with Rifles? Well here they are, and thank God these guys are the only ones with Rifles. Skaarj have pinpoint accuracy with a Rifle, and will rarely miss unless your moving around like a maniac or your hiding behind something. If you are hit with a Rifle, this will take a large chunk of your life, or instantly killing you most of the time if they get a headshot off you (Skaarj getting headshots does happen frequently also). The best way to rid these guys is to beat them at their own game. Using a Sniper Rifle with a Damage Amplifier, you can kill a Skaarj Sniper in 1-2 shots. Beware of the Skaarj Snipers. If you see these in groups, forget even fighting these.

Skaarj Scout: This is where the going gets tough. Even though these guys don't come equipped with weapons, they have a far deadlier attack. These guys will be the beginning of them launching the plasma bolt ranged attacks, and these can take off a good solid 30 health if you don't avoid these. To make matters worse, they launch two at once, and at a very fast pace, although the bolts are a little slow moving. This is also where the Skaarj will pick up the aggressiveness pace quite a bit.

Skaarj Assassin: Same as the Skaarj Scout, except they do more damage and they take more damage before they fall in battle.

Skaarj Berserker: Watching out for these guys is a big priority, mainly because they will attempt to charge at you full force, shooting bolts, and when getting close enough, start rolling and clawing at you wildly. These are very hard to get off your back if you're being chased, so just put an end to these guys as quickly as possible.

Skaarj Lord: The most elite group of Skaarj, these are a very hard obstacle to most people. If you see a group of these in an area, expect for there to be a few deaths from the monster hunters. These are faster, more aggressive, more damaging, more skillful, and can take a lot more damage than the Skaarj Berserker. Take extreme caution when engaging these guys in combat, and prepare to use some fancy footwork.

Ice Skaarj: They're blue and mean. They don't have any ice based attacks despite their names, but these rank better than the Skaarj Assassin, but weaker than the Skaarj Berserker. Basically the "middle man" as people would call it.

That concludes the Skaarj Lesson 101.

Warlord

Toughness: 9/10 Pain Resistance: 8/10 Methods of Attack: Melee attack, ranged missile attack.

One of the hardest monsters in the game. These guys, while airborne, have very nice acrobatics, and can dodge rockets and other ranged attacks with ease. Sometimes you can see them do back flips to dodge attacks, which is pretty neat. The Warlord's most deadly attack comes from its missile it shoots. These will hurt pretty bad if a direct hit comes upon you. Here's a few tips when fighting a Warlord:

Aim for the head, and good things will happen.

Always try to keep your distance at all times. The most annoying thing a Warlord will do is follow you with amazing speed and missile the hell out of you. You will no doubt, die, unless you do something fast, and now.

If all possible. pick Warlords off with your Sniper Rifle. If you run out of ammo, use the Minigun or Rocket Launcher and see if you can land hits on it.

Follow these tips and learn some tactics on what to do against a Warlord, and these won't bring you a lot of trouble.

Titan / Stone Titan

Toughness: 11/10. Pain Resistance: 11/10. Methods of Attack: Melee attack, throwing rocks and boulders.

The most powerful monster in Monster Hunt. You can fill these guys with 48 rockets from the Rocket Launcher and still be wanting more. Titans come in two flavors: Titan and Stone Titan. The Stone Titan is obviously more powerful in terms of pain resistance, bumping it to at least 14/10 easily. Here's a few tips when fighting a Titan or Stone Titan:

Bring a lot of ammo with you for all weapons. As stated earlier, these guys can be filled with 48 rockets and still be happy. It's a bad thing to come unprepared for battle with these guys.

Their rocks and boulders. AVOID THESE AT ALL COSTS. IF YOU GET HIT WITH A BIG BOULDER, THIS WILL DO AT LEAST 500 DAMAGE, KILLING YOU IN ONE HIT 99.9% OF THE TIME!! IF you can find something to hide behind, use it. If you can't, run around in circles around the Titan, circle strafing in possible.

These are very, very slow to walk. They can't run either. Use their slowness to your advantage.

Always come with a Shield Belt with Thigh Pads and Body Armor, and 450 Health if all possible. Titans are the most damaging monsters in the mod, and they know how to use their power to crush you.

Headshots are a must, as a Damage Amplifier is high recommended during a fight with one or more of these guys. That's about it. There are other variants of Titans, for example, the Water Titan, OMG's and Mr Boombastic. Look out for the OMG's and Mr Boom. They throw nuke boulders at you.

Queen

Toughness: 9/10. Pain Resistance: 10/10. Methods of Attack: Claw of death, plasma bolt ranged attack, missile ranged attack, fade.

Surpisingly, the Queen is slightly weaker than the Titan, but she can still put up a good fight. Her claw of death is when she charges and attempts to crush you with her pinchers. This does a good amount of damage if you do not dodge this. Her plasma bolt ranged attack is the same as some of the Skaarj. On some occasions, she has missiles she can launch. She will launch around 10-14 missiles at one given time. Try to avoid these at all costs.

Here a few tips for when fighting a Queen:

Unlike the Titan, the Queen has a much faster agility rate. Keep this in mind as you fight her and try to run. Come fully prepared with ammo. She takes a lot to bring down, although slight less than the Titan.

The Queens fade is more annoying than anything. During her time using fade (It's noticeable she's using it, because she will appear to disappear and then reappear at given intervals), you cannot attack her sadly. You will have to wait it out until she stops. This happens a lot when she fixed onto a hunter and the hunter dies. In that case either wait for her to stop for wait for the hunter that she was fixed on to come back.

Another annoying habit that the Queen loves to pull is being able to shield herself. Much like a Skaarj Warrior would, she will pull out a blue, indestructible shield. Due to her size, however, it doesn't really work all that much.

As always, bring a Damage Amplifier if you can.
